Kayak-folding repair

1. Before folding, carefully check the rubberized coating of the folding box and check even the smallest abrasions, we remove punctures or decay:

a) After cleaning with gasoline, minor damage to the coating is covered with self-vulcanizing or rubber glue;

b) Repair punctures or holes in the coating by cleaning the damaged area with petrol, sandpaper and coated with rubber glue (self-vulcanizing). After drying, we stick a patch with a larger diameter (slightly cut the edges). The patch must be cleaned with gasoline (clean) and coated with a rubber glue. We can also stick a second patch on the inside for better tightness. The glued places should be pressed tightly together (put the weight down) and put it to dry in a dark place;

c) the rotting of the coating can be removed through: 1) impregnation of the place of rot after thorough cleaning with gasoline; 2) cutting out the decayed shell and inserting a patch (we sew with linen thread), which we coat with an impregnating agent (We pull the stitched places with a thin layer of rubber glue).

2. Damage to the wooden skeleton of the folder, like for example. fracture of ribs and stringers, bortnic, ladders, we remove as when repairing a rigid kayak.
