We use cue-bids in the Italian version, i.e.. we give the closest, we have, no matter what class it is.
Skip the cue-bid color, despite having it, you can then, when you have a surplus and you will continue to bid after signing off your partner. This sequence can be used to sell a renouncement. Basically, you can't cue-bid a 5+ card partner with a short suit. You can give it for it even with a lady, if there are grounds to believe, that it is a good color. A short cue bid in a partner color can be given, when it was previously possible to indicate an honor bid in this color.
After a series of cue-bids, the return to the agreed color means either no hold in the uncalled color, or the concern about the quality of the agreed color.
