Bridge - Conventions Bridge - 2ba jacoby.

The creator of this convention is Oswald Jacoby (1902–1984), one of the greatest American bridge players, journalist and author of many conventions, and a participant in both world wars and the Korean War.
It consists in forcingly increasing the color of the partner's opening 1/1♠ (it used to be also a 4-card one) by the answer of 2BA from 4+ card fit in the opening color and balanced composition, and unlimited force from 13 PC. The Convention does not apply after the defender enters after opening the partner and also by the hand lying on the waist.
I. In the classic version, the following OTW responses are used after bidding:
1 /♠ – 2 BA = GF z 4+fitem
?
– 4 w opening color = minimum without shortness;
– 3 in the color of the opening = not the minimum, without shortness;
– 3 in a new color = shortness (depending on the arrangements, it may also be renounced);
– 3 BA = there may be different arrangements, e.g.. 5-3-2-2 with force (14-15) PC; 5-4-2-2;
– 4 in a new color = a good color 5. card or the color of the renouncement (depending on the arrangements).
II. The Official Encyclopedia of Bridge proposes the following solution:
– 3 ♣ = no minimum hand with singleton or squad 5-3-3-2;
– 3 = hand not minimal, 5st.- any 4-2-2;
– 3 = undefined renouncement, any strength;
– 3 ♠ = minimum z singletonem;
– 3 BA = non-minimum hand in your squad 5-3-2-2 or 7-2-2-2;
– 4 in lower color = 5-5 with a good second color;
– 4 w opening color = minimum without shortness.
After answers below 3N, the next rung is the hand identification question.
The answers are as follows:
1. rung = shortness of clubs,
2. rung = short diamonds,
3. rung = shortness in the second major (except for the question 3, after which the color of the side four is shown in a similar way). After asking 3 set for 3 ♣ shots in the composition 5-3-3-2 shows as follows: 4♣ = double clubs; 4 = dubel karo; 4 = great snipe in the second older.
III. Modifications 2 BA Jacoby was proposed by Chip Martel from the USA.
Here are the suggested answers after 2 BA published many years ago in Bridge Bulletin:
– 3 ♣ = minimum opening;
– 3 = singleton or renouncement in penalties + extra values;
– 3 in the second elder = singleton or renouncement of that color + extra values;
– 3 w opening color = singleton or renon in clubs + extra values;
– 3 BA = no shortness + extra values;
– a new color at the height of four = at least the composition 5-5 + extra values.
If ODP, despite the 3 ♣ answer, is still interested in slam, asks further for shortness by 3. OTW bids the color of the short or bids without it 3 into your elder
