Gymnastics after 50

Gymnastics after 50

Staying in good shape in old age is an unrealistic thing for many of us. It's hard to imagine 50 or 60 years old “grandma” doing physical exercises in the gym. We have to remember, The sooner we start exercising regularly, the better, we will enjoy good condition until old age. Exercise helps us stay healthy and fit.

As we age, our body's immunity decreases. Various illnesses and diseases begin to bother us. If we lead a sedentary lifestyle, we will quickly get civilization diseases. Regular exercise will reduce the risk of heart disease (coronary artery), diabetes and especially osteoporosis.

After the age of 40, our muscle mass and bone density decrease. To prevent this, we should use weight-bearing exercises, which will help regain some of the lost muscle, as well as bone density.

Systematic gymnastics and maintaining the correct weight will allow us to enjoy better fitness at a later age. Balance exercises will also be advisable because it will help us avoid dangerous falls.

Hello,
regarding the above article , I inform you that it aroused my indignation in my opinion ”
Staying in good shape in old age is an unrealistic thing for many of us. It's hard to imagine 50 or 60 years old “grandma” doing physical exercises in the gym.”
Promoting such views is harmful and has a negative impact on the attitude of young people towards the elderly, thus preparing the ground for the future- will be treated the same / age racism / . What does it mean : it's hard to imagine 50 – summer grandma at the gym.- everyone can imagine – if he can and is able to do any exercises, go to the gym and do what he can. The very breakdown of a person at this age and coming to the gym is a real feat, and I perceive the promotion of such attitudes as in the above article very badly. I watch people of this age in the gym myself , that pass like meteors struck by impetus no – 50-year-olds and the lack of care of the instructors.
A negative comment indicates an intellectual limitation. Instructors should be very careful to encourage such people to come to such places, even if such a person does it much slower and less effectively. It is also a form of spending free time as well as an opportunity to make new contacts, which is quite important. Or maybe how negatively you perceive these 50-year-olds / because the 50-year-olds are not mentioned here / in the gym , you would start promoting special gyms for people over 50 ? You will like it someday too. The passing of time is merciless and people who write such texts will also be affected , as long as it doesn't apply anymore.

Regards

Antonia

Way to go! but those 50 are self-eliminating, the reality is this, that they don't want to. I was looking for a gym with a good rower in the estate, not even for women, whatever, and for 50!!-unfortunately.. unfortunately. Sami young boys-women for the cure. I think if they were, something would be found. In my city of 500,000 there is one gym for men. But the pass is 200 PLN and the city center to which I have to drive 45 minutes. I prefer my running in the woods….

A problem as old as the world!!! What young people think about their elders is ridiculous in the context of the inevitability of aging for everyone… I miss the 50's a bit, but not that much. How i feel? Well, I feel mentally like 20 years ago, I like to laugh, I am curious about the world and people, I'm still learning and probably will never stop. Your own body, however, has certain limitations and therefore you need to take care of them. Where are such places for middle-aged and elderly people? I'm sorry, but the local gym is a meeting place “packed” the youths and girls being their satellites. Instructors know how to organize a reasonable training for a 50-year-old girl, such as. on Japanese literature…
However, in order not to play complaining, I buy equipment and try to practice at home. Is it an expense? So, of course. The gym is not free either. I collected a bit of it from the simple ones, e.g.. skipping rope, hula-hop, stepper to more expensive ones – orbitrek. In addition, a bicycle and weekend bicycle trips, sometimes PTTK-type hiking.
I don't think of adjusting to fitness clubs, when the proper ones for me appear, it is clear, that I will use. Now let their money fly by their nose…their cause and their loss.
I endorse Antonia with many of your statements.
And I will tell you Pysia, that fitness enthusiasts are of all ages and the offer of the gym sucks…

Regards,
Barbara

I want to add my three cents, because I believe it is in the box 50 years you can be very physically fit ,no less like young people, you just have to take care of it a few years in advance. I have 56 lat – I have some exercise equipment at home, but despite the amount of work and frequent physical work, I exercise every day ,moreover, I ride a bike regardless of the weather. You also need to take care of healthy food. Regards, alicja

I do not agree with my previous speakers. Mam 61 lat, I am retired and enjoy the gym. It is run by young people, who are very positive towards me, so i think, that to all older people, who wish to come to them. They showed me what and how to exercise within my age and common sense. I didn't get any nasty comments. On the contrary, constant encouragement, that I can do it. It is uplifting and I look forward to that day with pleasure, when can i go there again (I go twice a week after 1,5 time.). Best wishes, Barbara.

I am a grandmother in my fifties. People, what a misconception you have about that age and being a grandma!!!
I go to the gym from time to time, I exercise every day at home, I go to the swimming pool and work professionally. For this I am playing with my granddaughter, I feel good with her, and she with me. I'm her friend- as he says.
It is about changing stereotypes about old age.
It is the grandmothers who must teach you, that the time of grandmothers with buns is over? And you are so modern, hm…

I'm over fifty, not a grandmother yet. I am convinced, that I am more efficient than many teenagers. Recently I was in a dynamic yoga class for the first time. And I was the oldest, but not the worst. I was treated very well. It all depends on ourselves. Respect yourself and others will respect you too…

I have over 50 lat, sometimes i go to the gym, for many years anyway, I often go to the swimming pool, I used to attend yoga classes. I have never experienced bad treatment either from the staff or from other trainees. I think, that everyone at any age can find exercise for themselves, whether in the gym or elsewhere, important to exercise every day.

After 50 it's not grandma. My mom has 55 years old and athletic, looks over 10 years younger. I train 3 times a week. I find it strange to use words to describe women of this age “grandmother”, because she's not the only one, which goes on like this.

Hello!
I went to this link, to learn more about fitness, What I read in the above comments freaked me out a bit. I received a fitness card from work(I chose movie tickets instead). I'm over fifty, but I feel very young. I'm graduating this year and I really like young people. Mimo, The comments didn't encourage me, so I'll give it a try.

I like your site and have read a lot about it, but when I got to the post-50 page I was speechless, who writes such nonsense, life after 50 is just beginning. Whoever sits there and writes whether this is a competent person, I have doubts. Yes, I am a grandmother of two grandchildren and so what should I sit on the proverbial d…. NO. I live in Szczecin in the summer, I ran and since autumn I go to the POP-EYE gyms in the Słoneczne district and it is wonderful they are young and older and no one reacts to it, the instructors are wonderful the atmosphere is even better so what is going on with Next time when you write something, think about it. Good luck in the next articles, sincerely Bożenka.

Hello cupcakes! I think, that everyone is as old as they feel. Movement is life, it's beauty, well-being and youth!!! I know many teenagers, who are in worse condition than many grandmothers. Mam 37 years old and I run aerobics classes and exercises at the gym for everyone, women in their 60s as well. They are very pleased, I encourage them, the most important, so that everyone exercises to the best of their abilities and finds a form of activity, which she likes. And it's also good to have a workout companion, although the most important is willingness and self-discipline! Good luck ladies, let's not give up!

I finally bought nordic poles but I'm ashamed to use them myself and I have no experience. Movement in the fresh air will not replace any exercises in clubs. 2 musculoskeletal procedures together, it is easier to overcome resistance - the city of Gdańsk, if someone writes to me, I will be happy to answer

I read and just smile. Yes, it is true that you should take care of your physical fitness from an early age so that it can bring you good-looking fruit in mature age. I have many options to check my condition. Very person by 50 -that I drive: aerobics, calanetix, yoga……..
I see, in what form is our beloved youth, when a man looks he is just scared.
I'm glad, that at last Women began to take care of their physical condition….because remember MOVEMENT IS HEALTH regardless of age.

Mam 57 years and since 2 I have been going to fitness for years. The beginnings were difficult to move the existing muscles ,to deal with coordination and balance, especially since the exercises are conducted for the young, but now I exercise equally with the young and sometimes much better and so far I am the only person in such an 'advanced'’ I live in Krakow and even in such a large city there are no offers for women after 40+ and whether they like it or not, they have to exercise on an equal footing with the young. I meet with full acceptance of the participants, while the club owners do not encourage older people to be active / there are no discounts for pensioners and for students there are / I would like to dance latino ,but there are also suggestions only for young people and I feel embarrassed to train there. I warmly welcome!I am over the magic fifty and …Exactly. Just like my predecessors, I am outraged by the words of the article. I am fit, I am in better condition than many teenagers. once a week ,I use the swimming pool and sauna,I go on 45 minute quick walks with my dog(5 km)two three times a week and gets up at five in the morning every day to pedal in peace 20 minutes on the exercise bike and 30 minutes on the elliptical trainer. The exception is the period of illness. I have been living this lifestyle for a year and a half. Earlier I used to go to a fitness club, but commuting and opening hours were not conducive to regularity ,(I run a company and I can devote two hours a day to sport, provided it is early in the morning,I have a lot of work later)I still have two adolescent children at home, an eight-year-old son and a seventeen-year-old daughter. So there are some responsibilities. I live in Germany. ,I would even say ,that there are as many of them as young people. Not to mention the whole groups wandering with the recently fashionable “sticks”,running,or roller skating and cycling, and they are not young people.
You can do more harm than good with such an article, because even if you've already germinated you in middle age, for example,to go to the gym ,this after reading “it is hard to imagine a fifty-year-old grandmother(sic!) I am sure he will be effectively discouraged ,a very young person wrote the article ,or a person without an imagination.

I was also outraged by the wording: it's hard to imagine a grandmother after 50 exercising at the gym. Mam 53, I direct a company, I'm swimming, I ride a bike, in winter I go for long walks. I even pulled my husband out on a bicycle, route 50 km is not a problem. I am also careful, that I am physically fit better than many young girls.

Another proof of that, that emotions precede thinking.
In this case, the indignation preceded the understanding of the article. How common is that.
I have a lot of imagination. And I can “imagine” my mother at the gym. Surrounded by a bunch of drugged teenagers. But most people have a very limited imagination (I know, because I study it professionally) – and indeed, it's hard for them to imagine.
But my mother can't imagine herself there. It blocks itself, shame blocks it.
Antonia – thought, only then write.

I don't know, what's strange about that, that the 50-year-old was outraged? See what Madonna looks like, or other stars, which has long since turned 50. I think, that currently people over 40 care more about their condition and figure, or 50. I go to aerobics and much older ladies exercise with me. You can see how happy they are, they are no worse off than me, and they are twice as old. Eventually we all will 50 lat. Regards

Ladies and gentlemen, I have ambivalent feelings. Unfortunately, I work professionally as a teacher, or maybe just luck. Mam 56 lat. It's not easy for me and I envy going to the gym . I have been living in the countryside for several years and, contrary to appearances, it was in the city where my husband and I had a place to walk. We have a lot of work in and around the house. Sunday lazing is our dream. When we live to retire, we will use the swimming pool in the city and bicycles. Today I am happy, that I work , although I had different views before. Professional work gives me a lot of joy. In addition, I devote a lot of my life to working with youth and volunteering. He doesn't care about grandchildren. So home not so much- cleaning and gardening is a bit too much. I have a wonderful husband and son,psa – bernese, Kocura- roofer, great neighbors. Yes, heaven is here and now. Greetings to those who sign on the portal, I wish you health and joy in everyday moments of the day.

It has been so many times, that I practiced in the gym with my two daughters and girls their age. Recently, I gave my granddaughter a pass and practiced Zumba with her and others. It was a gift for her on the occasion of Grandma's Day. I am not the thinnest, but I don't have to be ashamed of my physical fitness, because I exercise at least 3 times a week. Dear Ladies, Indignation at the young and beautiful of youth alone does not make sense. There are many examples of the appalling carelessness of young Poles ,Who after 30 the steak massively round off, they swell also from steroids or fast food and create the image of a primitive irrational society., handed over to me by my athlete father: everyone works for their appearance and physical condition for years, way of life and nutrition, therefore being around 60 I am fully professionally active ,I initiate various projects I like people with whom I keep social contacts,in my free time I go out of town / Krakow / for good hiking ,I go skiing when I have company , After the holidays, I start regular gymnastics, without thinking about it, I have a very good figure, which arouses admiration in others and amazement in me. Dear readers – and what is there to be outraged (?) Nature has made us that way. What young people have “for free”, fifty-year-olds (i +) they have to work out. How do they do it, seen in the street !!!
One thing is for sure – up to 30 !? you can stick around, no one is fooled after fifty – how old are you. And how efficient we are. O ! , this is a topic for a separate conversation.

Hopeless article.
“It's hard to imagine 50 or 60 years old “grandmother doing physical exercises in the gym.”

With such an attitude, one would have to slowly prepare the grave.

I could name dozens of athletes who only at this age achieved championship titles in various sports.

Limitations are not imposed by age and mental attitude.
And this article does nothing positive.

Personally aged 65 lat , I have better code than when I had 18 years old and did not play any sports.
