Cue bidy

Cuebids are used to provide information about first and second class arrests immediately after agreeing the color for the game. Cuebid is bidding on a new color without a height jump at least 3, if an older color has been agreed, or at height 4 at the agreed minor color. Rules for bidding on cuebids:

1

Bid on the colors you have not bid first, aces against renounces.

2

Plan your cuebids. The cheapest cuebid doesn't have to be the best, if it reports another cuebid higher than, as if the order was the reverse. For example the order of 4 ♣ -4-4♠ is better than 3 ♠ -4-5♣.

3

Submit aces first, then kings. Exceptionally, if you already showed in bidding, that you are strong in some color, you must report a 2nd stage check before showing a 1st stage check in your color.

4

Only report cuebids above the tip, when it is possible to play a slam - it is better to return to the agreed color from a minimum. If partner shows more cuebids or his last cuebid is above the tail, you have to answer, whenever possible.

5

Reporting a cuebid above 5NT is an attempt to play slam.

6

If any of the partners feels, that he already has enough information to establish the final contract, should bid it immediately.

7

If the cuebid has been counted, redouble shows the 2nd stage control in this color. You can also pass after a counter.

8

Avoid reporting a singleton or a color renouncement, that your partner was naturally bidding on.

GSF (Grand Slam Force)

Bidding on 5NT bypassing Blackwood is a GSF convention, which asks the partner to bid a slam in the agreed color, if he has two of the three senior trump honors (A,K,D) or going down to 6 in a color agreed if he has one of the honors at the most
